American Holly - Ilex opaca
The American Holly is a native broadleaf evergreen that matures slowly. Like most hollies, it is dioecious; that is, the male and female flowers appear on separate plants. The female flower produces the berries. To guarantee berries, there must be a male holly of the same species within 30 - 40 yards of the female tree. Will grow in FULL SUN or PARTIALLY SHADED areas.
