Buxus sempervirens 'Suffruticosa' - Old English Boxwood
Old English is a truly dwarf boxwood. It was sent to the US by the English, who called it a Dutch boxwood. Taxonomists called it 'edging' boxwood because it grows slowly, less than an inch a year, and stays small. In fact, in some formal estate gardens, there are plants well over 100 years old that stand at only 3' high. Prune, if you must, in late winter; in our Zone 7b, that would be in February. * Deer Resistant * Photos courtesy of Toms Creek Nursery in Denton, North Carolina (336) 857-2131 Ornamental Characteristics Category Shrub Environmental Characteristics
