Caddo Pecan Tree (Type I) - Carya illinoinensis 'Caddo'

Type I Produces consistently year in and year out. Early ripening October 11th - Georgia. Bears at an early age 5-6 years old. Medium size nut. Thin shell - making easy to crack open. Hardy zones 6-10. Unprotected young trees may be susceptible to sun scald. Hardy to 0-10 degrees F(zones 5-9). Pecans prefer slightly acid soil (pH 5.5-6.5). Pecan fertilizer has extra zinc, which is required for good nut production (12-4-8 with a unit of zinc). Fertilize 2 times each year in February and May. Note: Pecans are not self pollinating . Plant at least two within a quarter mile of each other. It takes a Type I and Type II to cross pollinate (Stuart & Elliott are good pollinators).
