Moonglow Sweetbay Magnolia - Magnolia virginiana 'Jim Wilson'

Sweetbay Magnolia is a Southern native; it is evergreen in the lower South; elsewhere, it is semi-evergreen depending on the severity of winters. Sweetbay has waxy, glossy foliage that looks silvery from a distance. In early spring it will drop some leaves to make way for new foliage; then, in May and June, it gets small creamy-white blooms that have a lemony-rose scent. These flowers make red seed pods that have decorative interest. This large shrub/small tree can also be grown in colder climates than the regular Sweetbay Magnolia. * Deer Resistant * Attracts: Hummingbirds, Birds, Bees & Beneficial Insects* Call ahead for availability of Field Grown tree availability 336-857-2131 Ornamental Characteristics Category Flowering Tree Fragrant Blooms Yes Environmental Characteristics
